When it comes to what we are up to these days, Seattle Parents of Preemies is just about everywhere. We are making an impact serving on the Smooth Way Home Coalition, working with UW Medicine on Maternal and Infant Mental Health, serving on advisory boards, working with specialists in their fields of study to serve and represent you and your voice.
We are passionate about our members and all the issues related to prematurity from early birth to home life, to things just not being as you probably hoped. Recently we were invited by MedBridge to send a couple of our parents to speak about life in the NICU. MedBridge provides online video training sessions for clinicians to help improve patient outcomes. Asia and Rebekah each spent an hour sitting down with Occupational Therapist, Ashlea Cardin to represent your voice of what caring for a preemie is like while in the hospital. Their stories shed a light on what is not always seen or understood by hospital staff and others serving this community! We are so proud to have these wonderful women as a part of our group, they both did an amazing job!
